Refining Results

One of Whozat's fundamental feature is the possibility for the user to refine the results and get to the most desired information. In order to do this, we allow the user to express her/his opinion on each element on the screen, with different feedback tools, each one requiring just one click.

We will describe separately each possible feedback action, but they do share a few common characteristics:

  • The system accepts each click, semantically interprets the meaning of the feedback action, re-orders the results accordingly and then refreshes the page.
  • In re-ordering Generic Web Results and Expressions, the system will divide them in 3 categories, separated by horizontal bars:
    • It' zat : with high probability, those results are closer to what you are looking for
    • Maybe zat : the system is not sure if this is what you are looking for
    • Not zat : with high probability, that is not what you are looking for
  • The user is allowed to provide one feedback click at a time. Any other action performed while Whozat re-orders results or the browser refreshes will be ignored.

Where 'zat?

In this scrollbar, you can see a list of locations . If you know where the person you are looking for lives, or where she/he was born or went to school, go ahead and select it. The browser will refresh and the results related to that location will be given higher priority in ranking. You can always select a different location later, or go back to selecting the neutral location "---" to return to the initial situation.

'zat ? and 'zat old ?

This scrollbar contains at most two values, Female and Male. If you know the gender of the person, select it.

This scrollbar contains the age of the people found, when indicated in the corresponding results. Take your best guess!!

It 'zat and Not zat

Specialized Results, Generic Web Results, and Expressions, are endowed with a tick and a cross icon next to them. By clicking the tick, you communicate the system that you like that result or expression, and you want to see more related ones. By clicking the cross, you instead indicate that you are not interested in that results nor in anything similar to it.

After you have clicked one icon, and the browser has refreshed with newly ranked results, you will be reminded of your past action by a green or red background beyond the icon you clicked on: , or. You can always reverse your action by clicking again on the same icon: the browser will refresh and show you the original ranking, and the background of the icon will again be white.

Or, you can add more feedback by clicking on a tick or cross of a different result or expression. The system will then re-order results taking in account all of your feedback action up to this moment. Each one of them is independently reversible with the mechanism just described.

We strongly discourage you from using the Back button of the browser to reverse your feedback action, as the system might not update the ranking of results appropriately.
